Writing the “About Me” page is never easy. You want to give readers an idea of who you are so as to help them better understand the stuff you write, or why you feel certain things. What’s that to know about me before it all begins? Alright, I am Hong Kong born, mostly locally educated with 4 years in the States, and having been working in the supply chain profession by and large for the last 18 years. I am a seasoned strategic procurement professional in the most recent 11 years of my career life, and have worked in a variety of industries ranging from oil and chemical, measurement technology, management consulting, financial services and hospitality & gaming.
This blog is about my career as a strategic procurement professional in this day and age of corporate globalization and cost cutting. I target to provide a light heartened view of who we are, what we do as well as the misconceptions and challenges of a profession that is relatively less known in this part of the world. However I do provide a lot of my personal views which may or may not represent the traditional school of thoughts, and you will know what they are. A lot of my experience and learnings come from my current and past employers and mentors of Shell, ExxonMobil, Agilent, FreeMarkets, Ariba, American Express and Venetian, with a number of additional names like Emerson Electric, Mattel, Huawei, Lenovo, China Light & Power, Johnson Electric, HP, HSBC, UBS, etc.., during my spend management consulting days in the region.
I sincerely welcome your comments and thoughts. Your messages and feedback will be my biggest motivation to carry on!

quite a rich website!
looks good….
Hi Sam, The logo is deleted. My apologies for mistakenly using your product logo for my post. Thank you for letting me know.
Come to here because my son has just been offered a place at UWC-USA next year. Very nice 3-part series on Reunite with UWC … with lots of sense of humor.
I have been thinking: Is it not surprising that many HK or Chinese UWCers end up in money making business fields, eg ibanker, while others seem more likely to fill a wide spectrum of professions — like arts, journalism, environmental, public services? Sounds critical but it just seems sad if a UWCer sees the two years of experience supported by full scholarship as a free treat of a jet flight to famous universities and a high-pay career thereafter. Not a remark about you as I haven’t had the chance to read your other posts and don’t know yet which type you are. This is just a thought in my head during the uneasy process in the last few weeks of giving up the place at Atlantic and now receiving an exceptionally opened place in USA.
Anyway, appreciate very much your time to share the thoughts through your blog. Maybe the drive to share is also affected by your time at UWC-USA, or maybe not.
